The Story Tree

That is my tree. 

That is my neighbor’s fence. 

I keep telling myself I need to trim my tree so that it does not hang over my neighbor’s fence. But then I think of Peter and the Wolf, and its tree that overhung the garden wall, and of The Secret Garden, and its tree that towered over the wall, where the robin sat and sang, and of the mulberry tree in my own childhood back yard, with the sawn-off branch that we leaped from, and I think, “This is so cool! I have a tree that hangs over the fence!”

And then I cannot trim it.
