A Hard Look at Nostalgia
As part of the (yet-untitled) family history project, my dad has digitized his mother’s writings, and is cleaning up the OCR. I hope to be able to share them with you in book form very soon; in the meantime, we keep coming across delightful little gems like this one, from my grandmother’s January, 1958 diary:
Why does a man speak of the ‘good old days’ – and their hardships – with such nostalgia, yet will work his fingers to the bone to insure his children against such an experience?
