The Door Into …

In The Avian Plague, Our Heroes visit an avian colony world, Elaninae. Their purpose there is to take delivery of some new equipment; obviously, things are Not That Simple. Our Heroes spend more time on the planet than they had intended, which means that they have to learn to navigate a world built, well, for the… avians.

Which means I had to figure out how an avian door would be configured (among other things; avian toilets were even more fun). Which accounts for the painter’s tape in my hallway.

For the record, an avian doorway is similar in size to a human doorway, but flipped on its side, with a half-meter sill. These doors are oval. Initially, I envisioned something with two doors that slide sideways, a la Star Trek, but I may rethink that. Feel free (for the moment, while this is all still in draft) to weigh in.
